Your administration must take an active role in directing U.S. efforts to confront this global human rights violation Currently, there are an estimated 27 million people enslaved worldwide, 200,000 within the United States.
Presently, national and international government agencies struggle to combat this global epidemic. These efforts lack a single leader to coordinate them. Emancipating the estimated 27 million people enslaved in today’s world and preventing additional women, children, and men from being trafficked requires unity and coordination. (show less)

I urge your administration to enact needed change by assuming a strong leadership role in creating executive oversight and accountability for the various governmental agencies working to combat human trafficking.
Furthermore, given the severity of the crisis, I encourage you to create a position within your administration for a human trafficking “czar” with the authority to coordinate the United States’ efforts both nationally and internationally. Human trafficking transcends national borders and is currently the third largest and fastest growing illegal enterprise. Any effective solution requires the U.S. to confront traffickers everywhere they operate. Through effective coordination of national and international efforts, we can end modern-day slavery.
