President Zelaya was deposed as President of Honduras in a military coup on Sunday, June 29, 2009. To: U.S. President Barack Obama

We petition that…

The United States Government and Department of State join the international community and Organization of American States in calling for the restoration of the democratically-elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya. Additionally, we call for the United States Government to not recognize any military-installed government in Honduras, including acting president Roberto Micheletti.

Leaders throughout Latin America, including the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, have denounced this coup, along with spokespersons from the European Union. Because of the United States' considerable diplomatic influence in the region, and since the U.S. Army helped train one of the leaders of this military coup at the notorious School of the Americas, we are calling on President Obama to support the immediate restoration of the democratically-elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
