Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest of Cle Elum, WA is dedicated to the care of chimpanzees formerly used by the entertainment and biomedical testing industries.
Annie, Burrito, Foxie, Jamie, Jody, Missy and Negra arrived on June 13, 2008 from the Buckshire Corporation. The chimpanzees, now known as the Cle Elum Seven, were kept at Buckshire in a small enclosure with no windows and no access to the outdoors. Chimpanzee research and breeding ended at Buckshire with the transfer of these chimpanzees. The Cle Elum Seven have transformed in the short time they have been in sanctuary. They are confident, playful, healthy, and full of life. Visit the blog for lots of photos, videos and stories of their continuing transformation: www.chimpsanctuarynw.org/blog |
