Darwin Cruz's Birthday Wish
I'm turning 25 on February 21!
This year I'm donating to a good cause: Room to Read
This is why I'm donating my birthday
This particular cause is something I really care about.

Room to Read is an innovative non-profit leader dedicated to promoting and enabling global education. Founded in 2000, the organization is based on the belief that education is crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty in the developing world. Since then, the organization has supported over three million children by providing increased access to higher-quality educational opportunities. Room to Read has catalyzed the construction of more than 700 schools, established over 7,000 bilingual libraries with 5 million books, and continues to support the education of nearly 7,000 girls. Room to Read is providing opportunities that change children's lives and communities throughout Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zambia.
This is why I care
Since it's my birthday soon, instead of buying me a gift or a drink, I'm asking you DONATE ANY AMOUNT money to help kids in developing nations LEARN. It doesn't have to be $25, you can choose $10, $5 or even more :).
If you know me, I love learning and I love reading. I can't imagine what it would have been like to not have access to BOOKS and SCHOOL growing up. Room to Read is a non-profit founded by ex-Microsoftie John Wood (i.e. my hero) to help build schools, libraries and fund girls' scholarships in countries like Nepal, Vietnam, India an South Africa. I'm having a birthday photo fundraiser party ( http://is.gd/jfdB) in Seattle (please come if you can!), but many of you aren't in Seattle, or might not be able to make it. Still, I would ask you to consider giving even $5 to this cause!
Thanks for the birthday wishes and for donating!
I've raised $1,430 of my $500 goal...
Birthday Greetings
