About this Nonprofit

Mission: Founded in 1997, PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) is Chicago's largest no-kill humane organization, with a mission of reducing the number of homeless pets in Chicago. PAWS envisions a no-kill Chicago -- a city in which no pets are destroyed just because they are homeless. PAWS saves dogs and cats through innovative adoption programs, cageless Cat Adoption Center, and the Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic--Chicago's only high-volume, free/low-cost clinic located in the neighborhoods that that have the highest volume of stray and unwanted pets.
Description: PAWS Chicago's programs include the Lurie Family Spay/Neuter Clinic, which performs over 12,000 surgeries annually at little or no cost. The PAWS Humane Education Program teaches families about responsible pet care. PAWS adoption initiatives include our dog and cat adoption events, which occur every weekend in Chicagoland malls, retail and pet stores; two city-wide annual "Angels With Tails" multi-shelter adoption events that adopt out hundreds of animals; and our new cageless Adoption & Humane Center in Lincoln Park.
