Mission
The Child Crisis Center is committed to preventing and treating child abuse and neglect. We accomplish this by supporting and strengthening families through education and intervention, providing a safe environment for children to heal and grow, raising community awareness, recruiting, training and supporting foster and adoptive families, and taking the lead and setting the standard for others to follow.
Description
Our shelter consists of 3 units with a total capacity to shelter 42 children, ranging from infancy to their 11th birthday. Specially trained staff and volunteers care for the children and address developmental deficits by using specialized teaching materials and techniques. Our clinical staff meets one-on-one for play therapy sessions and other necessary counseling needs. We also provide medical attention to each child thanks to our volunteer pediatricians and on-site nurse practicioner.
Children are placed in our shelter either through Child Protective Services or by their families as a Community Placement. They may stay from several days to many months, depending upon their circumstances. Our staff and volunteers create an atmosphere of security, acceptance and encouragement where children can heal from trauma, build their self esteem, and have the positive experiences of childhood.
Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center (FRC) is a collaborative effort of nine local agencies, of which CCC is the lead. The FRC's mission is to improve the quality of family relationships, minimize family stressors, and link families to their community.
