| Description: |
Richmond Animal Protection Society (RAPS) is a registered non-profit organization that has been rescuing animals and assisting Richmond residents since 1989. We operate the City of Richmond's animal shelter and 12071 No. 5 Rd. and also operate North America's largest sanctuary for lost and abandoned pet cats and their feral offspring. Our mandate includes:
-Reducing pet overpopulation through education and subsidized spay/neuter programs for low-income pet owners -Assisting with pet behavioral problems to reduce the rate of pet surrender -Providing high-quality care to homeless animals in our shelters -Adopting animals to safe, loving and committed homes Since taking over Richmond Animal Shelter from the BC-SPCA, we have brought "No-kill sheltering" to our municipality for the first time in its history. In fact, the primary reason why we pursued the City contract was to end the killing of Richmond animals by the former operator. |
