* There are 1.9 million refugees living in protracted refugee situations.

* For these refugees, jobs are scarce, health care is unreliable, education severely limited, and food and water are strictly rationed.

* FORGE creates opportunities for African communities affected by war to:

FORGE provides refugees with health-based, educational, financial and vocational resources to improve their standard of living. In the long term refugees develop leadership, education, and vocational skills that will aid their home countries when they eventually repatriate. In this way, FORGE tackles the root causes of protracted conflicts by helping communities emerge from poverty, fostering peace, and developing future leaders.
