Description:
A group to support the National Park Service and all National Parks, National Historic Sites, National Historical Parks, National Monuments, National Wild Rivers, National Public Lands, National Islands, National Historic Areas, National Memorial Parks, National Recreation Areas, National Preserves, National Battlefields, National Lakeshores, National Scenic Trails, National Memorials, National Seashores, National Heritage Areas, National Parkways, and National Scenic Rivers.

The National Park Service is a very important part of the United States history and future. When President Theodore Roosevelt established the first National Parks in the late 19th century, he understood the need to preserve the nation before it was destroyed. Then, in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson established the National Park Service as a federal bureau of the Department of the Interior in order to protect and manage National Parks. Today, hundreds of Parks, Preserves, Historic Sites, and other areas have been set aside on over 80 million acres of land as protected by the government.

Added at the request of the nonprofit organization:

"The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) was established in 1919 to protect and enhance the National Park System and to be the pure guardian of the mandate to protect the system’s landmarks and landscapes, unimpaired for future generations. NPCA has been the leading voice of the American people in protecting and enhancing the park system’s superlative examples of America’s natural, cultural, and historic heritage. NPCA and its more than 330,000 members and supporters are committed to preserving the most diverse park system in the world for us now and for those who will come after."
