Common Cause was founded when John Gardner observed that "everybody's organized but the people. Now it's the citizens' turn."

We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working for political change that puts the public interest ahead of special interests. We strive to make government more open, honest and accountable, and to help citizens get involved in their democracy.

"When the little guy wins, it's likely that Common Cause had something to do with the victory. It's good to know that the people can make a difference." - St. Petersburg Times
