I think more leagues are moving to the "no trade" model out of necessity, based on the number of trade disputes that occur each year. However, alternative dispute resolution allows leagues to have trades without dealing with the burdens of internal review -- thus keeping a very fun element of the game in play in exchange for just a small fee.
Also, it may surprise you; however, more than half of our disputes actually have nothing to do with trades. My favorites disputes involve interpreting league bylaws, and issues related to data conservation on draft day.
Best of luck in your fantasy leagues this season!
