The Sun is Rising

They think were snotty
little brats, teens whipping our tails
with no consequence
We scrape life from our plates
as starving children harden our hearts
We want more not less
They believe we kill
to keep our cars fueled
our jumbo mortgages low
They want to know why
we live so poorly
love so loosely
teach our children competition over compassion
We tuck the sick and aging into cubbies
like an old pair of Stilettos
Yet, our adolescent reign is over
Time to survey the land
Gather understandings beyond
the black book
What does it matter who we are
When we have no eyes to see
No desire to open our minds
No heart to walk beyond prayer

Fog

This morning I woke to heavy fog drifting along the valley between my home and the mountains. I needed this. It was what I thanked the universe for the night before and here it was. I grabbed my Canon and tip toed into the dew covered grass. It reminded me of snow, the first snow of the season, the one that covers everything and makes life seem simple again. I felt this. It was peace filled and kind.

I hope a little fog comes into your life today. Remember your beginnings, not those of your parents but before they even put a mark upon your soul. Remember how it was to feel free? Today is your day to find that again.

Where I believed I would melt
But this time my determination made me
I've ignore the pain,
grit my teeth, closed my eyes and ran
