The only problem with passion is the other end of it -- exhaustion!!!! What drives me is too hard a question to answer - it's the story, it's the person behind the story, it's the potential (hopefully positive) effect on the world - so many things - and often, instinct. It really depends on the book or project - for individuals I enjoy helping them remember why they're doing what they're doing. Hopefully, they are expressing their passion, not just driven by monetary success. (which is not a bad thing, mind you!)

It sounds as if we need to clone you. But, why clone you, when you have enough passion in your little finger to set the world on fire. If you don't mind sharing, what drives you? Are you passionate about the premises of the books you handle. . .etc.

I'm reading two extraordinary books. Emily Post, Daughter of the Gilded Age, Mistress of American Manners, by Laura Claridge; and, Hurricane of Independence, The Untold Story of the Deadly Storm at the Deciding Moment of the American Revolution. Both books draw the reader into a fascinating account of the day-to-day life of a time gone by. Claridge's writing is so beautiful, poetic, and articulate, that as a fellow author...I want to be her when I grow up! Another fabulous book that provides a bird's eye view into the 1900 Galveston, Texas hurricane (the worst natural disaster in American history) featuring eye-witness accounts is John Edward Weems A Weekend in September. (Though not for the faint of heart!)



My newest book, Bond With Your Baby Before Birth, (HCI, 2009) has just been released; and, I'm also working on a novel about an American psychic joining the European Underground in World War II who accesses valuable info that helps the Allies win the war.
