Description:At Grave Mappers, we are genealogists, researchers, historians, hobbyists, and cemetery lovers who have something in common—we want to preserve the priceless records found in cemeteries. Each of us has done this in our own unique way—walking through small deserted cemeteries and transcribing the headstone information; photographing headstones and sharing them on the internet; indexing and publishing burial listings from the cemeteries we visit; and even restoring and preserving aging burial marker and gravesites. Now as a group, we are joining together to unite our efforts. And we invite you to join us! At the Grave Mappers blog you will find: ~The locations of obscure, abandoned, and endangered cemeteries. ~Exciting ways to help preserve cemeteries and their records. ~Spotlights of individuals and organizations that are making outstanding cemetery preservation efforts. ~Cemeteries in the news.
