Nancy,

Thanks a lot for the ideas. I checked out 37signals so far and it looks promising. At this point there is no official budget but it looks like the cost of these sites is manageable. I will try to give some feedback on what I find via the Men's auxilliary!

Cheers,

Matt

Hey Matt-

Hi! Welcome to the Geek Girl's Men's auxiliary!

Have you heard of 37 Signals? You can find them at 37signals.com. They've got a suite of tools that immediately come to mind when thinking about your objectives. I think Basecamp and Campfire might both be worth a look. They aren't free. But they are really affordable. Colaab.com is also interesting and worth checking out. Again, not free. But affordable.

I guess I am curious about your budget, if there is one. If what you really want is your own social network, Ning is worth a look. But it seems you need more collaboration and sharing of work product. So I say check out 37 Signals. If you don't fall in love with one of those products (they are so NO klunky) let me know and I'll toss out a few other ideas.

:)

Hey Geek Girls,

I am trying to get a new Technology Group started at work. The concept is "Fracture Network Engineering" and requires collaboration among people from many of our offices worldwide. I found Huddle.net and it seems to be a good way to schedule tasks (writing proposals), share files (code, RFP's, ppt shows, etc.) and get discussions going. I like it but it is a bit klunky. Google Groups is OK but not comprehensive enough (e.g. no task scheduling or document versioning, audit trailing). Any other sites out there you would recommend?

Cheers,

Matt
