Nady and Swisher both would not be happy platooning, meaning you could disturb the clubhouse chemistry. Lowe is overrated, and you shouldn't sign a 4 or 5 year deal for a 36 year old pitcher. The one thing you had right in your plan was picking Sheets over Burnett. Don't even get me started on your idea to have Nomar or Hinske as the DH. If you want to see a blog that is well thought out, and more realistic, you should see 6pound9ouncebabyjoba.blogspot.com.

The Yanks should NOT sign Teixiera. You really want to commit 50mm to your corner infielders for 8 years, especially as they are both past their peak and will only get worse over the course of their contract. The Yanks might need 1B for Montero if he can't stay behind the plate. And if Posada becomes too big of an injury risk this year we may have to move him to 1st, and thus we need to have someone there that we can move to a different position.

You overestimate the influence of the west coast on Sabathia as well. Players only spend about 3 months a year in the city where they play. With the 30mm he gets from the Yanks that he won't get from the Brewers(if they do update their deal to 6 years. 110mm) he can buy a house in Jersey or the Hamptons and California, so he can always be near the beach. And he can buy as many cross-country plane tickets as he wants.

Jaffe, your GM for a day was a tad ridiculous. The Giants would never accept a Winn-Matsui deal. Hideki won't be able to play the field consistently, and they don't have a DH in the NL. If he's traded it will be to Oakland. They're in the same area, so Matsui would still waive his no trade clause. The A's are serious about this year(as shown by the Holliday acquisition). And in case you haven't read Moneyball, they love draft picks. Hideki will most likely be a type A free agent after 09, meaning they could pick up draft picks for him. And as the A's are no longer pursuing Furcal, they can use that money to pay for Hideki's contract (13mm).
