यह कहानी लेखिका के 'ओड़िशा साहित्य अकादमी' द्वारा पुरस्कृत कहानी-संग्रह 'अमृत प्रतीक्षारे' में से ली गई है. मूल रूप से यह कहानी १९८६ में लिखी गई थी और तत्कालीन ओड़िया भाषा की प्रसिद्ध पत्रिका 'झंकार' में प्रकाशित हुई थी. बाद में इस कहानी का अंग्रेजी रूपांतरण 'वेटिंग फॉर मन्ना' शीर्षक से इप्सिता षडंगी ने किया , जो लेखिका के दूसरे अंग्रेजी कहानी-संग्रह 'वेटिंग फॉर मन्ना' ( ISBN: 978-81-906956) में शीर्षक कहानी के रूप में संकलित हुई है.

I am very glad tyhat Sarojiniji's works are very much popularized. They are worth reading. One of the most wonderful writers. I am sad, I cant read them in Oriya. I hope i have some way to learn it. I would give up all work for easily learning Oriya so that I can read a wonderful region of literature.

RACHANAKAR has published Hindi translation of Sarojini Sahoo's novel Pakshibas on web. This novel has also been translated and published from Bangladesh in February 2009.
