Description:Skloot is a freelance writer, a contributing editor at Popular Science magazine and a sometimes correspondent for the NPR show RadioLab. She writes feature stories, essays, and reviews for The New York Times Magazine, O: The Oprah Magazine, Discover and others, including the PBS television series Nova ScienceNOW, where she's worked as an on-air correspondent. She teaches creative nonfiction writing at the University of Memphis. Her first book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, tells the story of the amazing HeLa cell line -- the first immortal human cells ever grown in culture -- the woman they came from, and the family she left behind.
