I am a new follower and hopefull that i may get some input on my current situation. I wish to return to school for a Masters in Christian Counseling. I have noticed that there are programs that are not Title IV schools and do not accept federal funding. Then there are distance learning programs that do not offer you a degree but are able to send your certificates away to a school in another state that will give you your degree? It appears to me that I can get a degree through christian schools that will allow me to work pretty freely in the church community but not in the secular world such as being a school counselor or having my own practice....etc...I know my heart is to be in ministry but wondering if I would make a mistake not to have a degree that is approved by the states education board alllowing me to practice more freely. Can anyone speak to this or do I have it all messed up?

Also I need to find Financial aid which is highly dependent on which type of school I choose?

Read http://acts17verse28.blogspot.com/2009/06/choosing-not-to-keep-baby.html. I wouldn't know how to even begin to speak to this woman. What would you say to her?

Bob. My ministry has been RE-forming after 17 years as an exclusive Chinese/American-ethnic Advisory Pastor. I am newly aspiring to devote my ministry attention both as a professional Care-Giver and/or Counselor. However, I wish to upgrade my skill sets and retool whereby my pastoral background & credentials would be recognizable for non-church settings. BCSFN title & themes echoed have spiritually resonated well as an answer to prayer as I am kindred spirit. Thanx - for the evite!

Just read your comment about what someone said about "Biblical" in front of "Counseling." Dr. K, having worked with counselors such as the person who told you they didn't do both, I feel sorry for that person.

The Biblical Counselor that's seeing my daughter through all of what she's going through is sort of squelched from doing her job because the organization she works for receives money from the government. You can imagine her joy to be "allowed" to give Biblical Counseling to our daughter. We've had quite the converstaions. To me the best counselors out there are the "Biblical" ones because they're the only ones with the true answers.

Keep on for Christ,

Maggie

Just read today's blog on God's Healing for Life's Losses. It awes me at how much our LORD provides encouragement for us just as we need it.

Our youngest daughter is at the funeral of one of her dear friends who was killed in a freak accident this past weekend. Praise the LORD, she knew the LORD, but we're unsure of the young man who was also killed. :( Suzanne said that his last comment to her was, "I wanna wait till I get to church Sunday." He died Thursday night. :'(

Your words of encouragement today were exactly what I needed to encourage a grieving teen. Thanks, Bob

MJ
