Description:This blog stems from an activity which is aimed toward readers who have little or no formal training in this fine art. The ongoing series of Poets Birthday Readings serves as a reminder that poetry comes from poets. By providing a friendly, non-threatening reading experience, poetry in general can become something for inexperienced readers to engage themselves in more. This blog features lists of poets and their birthdays, titles of their recent works and links to publishers. Frequently this blog features pieces written by other bloggers.

Hi everybody
What a great idea! I've written a novel about the poet John Donne, and his family, that some of you might be interested in. It's called Conceit and is set in 17th-century England.
It's quite a bit of fun so I hope some of you will get a chance to read it.If you so, I'd love to hear what you think of it! (It was chosen as one of Abebooks' top 10 Canadian books for 2008, so is available from their website, plus other on-line retailers.)
Cheers,
Mary

Tomas I think you're on to something here...my chief goal is to expand the audience of readers of poetry...in other words, to increase the number of readers of poetry...that could be one way to do it...we have so many options it's hard to know what to do...

Proving links to E-books would be an effective way of getting poets work out to readers through the site: uploading work to poemhunter.com allows writiers to make an ebook with their branding, and you can post the link here on the wall, and others hover over the link, right click, and choose "save target as" to get a copy... make it free as long as everyone who downloads a copy makes a review of their favourite and the collection in general...

Thanks Olga! Maybe one day chapbooks will be available, one for each poet, to introduce his/her poetry, talk about his/her life and have something for more "advanced" readers.
