This Is a Next-Generation iPhone 4 Part, China Ontrade Claims

Nov 2, 2009
China Ontrade calls this the iPhone 4 Generation Midboard. Not very exciting, but the last time they announced a next-generation iPhone part, they were right. A month later, the iPhone 3GS appeared with exactly those parts. What could this mean? The...

Week In Review—The Second Coming of Android

Oct 31, 2009
Think of this week's round of announcements as Android's debutante ball. She's gone from a lovable ragamuffin to a mature OS that's ready for the spotlight. With Android 2.0, Motorola Droid and...

The Computer that Made the Internet

Oct 30, 2009
This is Dr. Leonard Kleinrock pinching the nipples of the Interface Message Processor, a ruggerized Honeywell DDP-516 Minicomputer. This box is responsible for what you are reading now, which either makes her my mom or the internet's mom or both....

Acer's Bloatware Adds 2+ Minutes to Boot Time, HP, Dell and Sony Not Much Better

Oct 29, 2009
PC Pro looked into the bloatware included on new laptops by major manufacturers, measuring how memory, HDD space and boot times are negatively effected. And good lord, it's worse than you thought. Bloatware, the crap software that manufacturers...

Parallel Image Display Is Low-Res and Gorgeous [Art]

Dec 5, 2009
Just because it isn't HD doesn't mean it can't be beautiful. The Parallel Image display uses photoreceptors to transmit brightness levels to the other side of the display. I'm in love with all of that gorgeous copper. The project represents how video...

Bionic Lenses Aren't Just for Cataracts Anymore [Medicine]

Dec 5, 2009
As someone who's been nearsighted since I was a kid, I'm loving the new developments in intraocular lenses. There's a new procedure gaining popularity that could give me super vision, without the irreversibility of LASIK. IOLs have been around since...

Dec 5, 2009
Western Digital support forums are filled with comments on the latest WDTV Live firmware update, few of them good. Many users are reporting that firmwares from 1.0.11 up are giving them trouble, at least, and in many cases outright bricking their...

A huge favourite of mine and one that I've wasted WAY too many hours on. Great for keeping up with the latest and greatest in useless gadgets and stuff to gloat about to your friends in email forwards. Humour is good although sometimes the professionalism of the site suffers slightly. Gizmosplosion seems to have happened in the last year or so with localised Giz sites opening up all over the show. Overall a very enjoyable and credible blog with an insane amount of content!
