BillLawrenceReview.com was built for those who want more information on "Bill Lawrence" L-500 pickups, specifically, to help identify and differentiate between pickups by the company and those designed by the man.
Currently, both entities have strong disclaimers to let their customers know who is who, but this has not always been the case.
You may want to educate yourself before making a purchase, or you may want to identify pickups you already own.
Hopefully, the information on this site will help you identify the manufacturer(did you know there was more than one?) and age of any L-500 electric guitar pickup in question.
I recommend heading over to the Glossary page to familiarize yourself with all characteristics of, and people behind, the L-500 that will be used throughout this site.
Please feel free to contact me with information or feedback regarding this site.
Enjoy!!
I found an old L-90 pickup (black, curved blades, square housing, just saying lawrence on top)
in an old German Framus SG from the 70ties.
Now my question is how to wire this pickup?
It only has 3 conductors ... red, black and blank ...
Is this pickup splittable?
I want to wire it into a Telecaster in the neck position ... using 3 way switch and may be one or two
on/on switches für splitting and/or outphasing if the L-90 could do so ...
Please help me ... how this pickup is wired and how it should be wired in ..
It's a work in progress, but you should be able to click on the "facebook" button under the login area and login with our facebook credentials (the only info passed to this site is your facebook user name and email).
Once you're in, feel free to post comments on the articles, and post your own forum topics as well! There is a lot of information out there, please share!
To this casual observer, it would seem the "Bill Lawrence" name dispute is starting to settle.
A quick look at billlawrence.com (the site about the man, Willi Stich aka Bill Lawrence) would indicate that Bill is no longer selling pickups as "Bill Lawrence" pickups but as being "designs by Bill Lawrence" under the brand-names Wilde® and Keystone respectfully.
Also, a quick peek at billlawrenceusa.com (the site owned and operated by Jzchak "EZ" Wajcman dba, but not limited to, "Bill Lawrence Products") you'll notice a new "TRADEMARK DISCLAIMER" stating...
Bill Lawrence Review (or at least the fancy web site you're looking at in it's latest version) is now 1 year old!
There have been a lot of improvements over that year, and I'm looking forward to many more!
Cheers,
I've received many emails via the "contact" section of this site asking for advice on pickups for sale on the Internet (ebay mostly), I'd like to invite anyone looking for assistance identifying guitar pickups to post in the "MarketPlace Watch" forum (after siging up of course!). I'll do my best to be quick on these requests!
