CANADA DAY!

Happy 142nd birthday Canada!! 

Looking for things to do with the family to celebrate? Here are a few options:

  

There’s an all day event in Abbotsford today at Exhibition Park -  starting with a pancake breakfast!  A parades follows at 11 til 1, with free events for the whole family in the park til 5pm, including  bouncy castles, play zones, water slides & more . Then, enjoy live entertainment & fireworks too which start at 10pm.

 

Canada Day - Steveston Salmon Festival. The day begins at 10am with a parade through historic Steveston village, which features over 100 entries including floats, marching bands, celebrities & politicians.  Opening Ceremonies are on the Main Stage at 12:30 with dignitaries, speeches, & the singing of O Canada. After the official opening, the stage bursts with great entertainment all afternoon. Festival highlights include attractions such as the Japanese Cultural Show, Craft Fair, Trade Show, an awesome Children’s Festival, Carnival rides & Midway, Martial Arts Demonstrations, Belt Sander Drag Races, Youth Festival, multi-ethnic Food Fair . The main attraction of course is the famous salmon barbecue where over 1200 pounds of wild salmon filets are grilled over open fire pits.

 

Surrey's Canada Day celebrations are at Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., 176th St. at 64th Ave. Music by 54-40, Bif Naked, Sweatshop Union, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jeremy Fisher, Kuba Ohms, more, with food, games and fireworks at 10 pm.

Canada Day at Granville Island.  Free fun island-wide activities for the whole family.  Canada day parade, official ceremony, contests & jazz from noon to midnight.

Canada Day at Canada Place.  Non-stop entertainment on three stages.

 

There’s a “nooner at the Nat” today.  Vancouver Canadians Baseball vs. Salem-Keizer.  1:05 first pitch. 

West Vancouver celebrates Canada Day with afternoon activities and fireworks at night.  Live entertainment, lots of kids activities, free birthday cupcakes at 1:30 and fireworks at 10:30pm.  Ambleside Park & West Vancouver Waterfront.

 

Canada Day Celebrations at Lafarge Lake and Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam.  Enjoy the free entertainment on the main stage, children's activities, sample multicultural foods and find out why Coquitlam is a Cultural Capital of Canada.

 

Celebrate Canada Day at the birthplace of BC!  Free fun for the entire family.  Fort Langley National Historic Site.

Vancouver’s 1st Annual Canada Day Parade hits the streets of downtown Vancouver this July 1st with marching bands, dancers, stilt walkers, mascots and a wide assortment of exciting performers representing Canada’s rich cultural diversity. The parade runs from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and begins at Georgia and Broughton Streets, travels east along Georgia to Thurlow, turns left on Thurlow towards Canada Place, and ends at Thurlow and Pender. (expect street closures)

 

Canada Day Celebration in North Delta: Chalmers Park is site for this flag-waving celebration (11400 76A Ave.). Bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs for the July 1 event, which offers children's activities starting at 6 p.m., plus food, a family concert and fireworks (at 10:15 p.m.).
