The “Unlock the Camps in Sri Lanka” action is now closed.

The government of Sri Lanka has heard the voices of tens of thousands of people around the world and is responding to the crisis.

On 1 December, government officials announced that restrictions placed on civilians detained unlawfully in the camps will be lifted.

Amnesty International welcomes this change of policy but will continue advocacy efforts to ensure that internally displaced Sri Lankans will be free to come and go as they please.
