In 2007 one person in six is aged 65 or over; by 2035 it will be more than one in four. Britain is an ageing society. Increasing life expectancy is a hugely positive advance - we want to ensure we all benefit from longer lives.

Society should provide a fair deal for older people, enabling them to enjoy a good quality of life. Older people should have access to the same opportunities as everyone else, their voices should be heard about decisions affecting their lives, their contributions should be valued and they should be able to live with dignity and security. Age Concern exists to promote the wellbeing of all older people and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
